Sellafield's community construction focuses on building new infrastructure for the site's long-term decommissioning and waste management, while repurposing existing facilities for new missions. Major projects involve safe waste storage, facility decommissioning, and the eventual demolition of old structures to create space for new, clean environments. Key players include Sellafield Ltd, the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA), and various engineering partners, all contributing to the extensive, multi-decade effort to remediate the site and protect local communities
Why We're on Strike
Industrial action is planned at the West Cumbria nuclear complex from 12.01am on Saturday, October 4th, until 11.59pm on Sunday, October 12th
We formally seek the introduction of two new allowances
1. Nuclear Profesional Allowance
2. Advanced Technology Allowance
Both are necessary to recognise the unique professional demands on the workforce and to ensure recruitment, retention, and safe project delivery at this national critical site.
